Lola Yamaha ABT is returning to race under the lights of the Jeddah Corniche Circuit, where it is hoping to add to its points tally for Season 12.
Situated alongside the Red Sea, the 19 turn, 3.001 km track features a long start/finish straight, technical chicanes and long sweeping turns. The Saudi Arabian double-header will once again be held at night and will also host the first pit boost race of Season 12.
Last time out in Miami, the team showed good pace throughout the weekend and although they narrowly missed out on points, finished in P11 (Zane) and P13 (Lucas), the positive improvements leave the team hopeful for points in Jeddah.
Lucas di Grassi, #11: “After a generally positive race in Miami, where we were much more competitive, I’m looking forward to taking to the track again in Jeddah. Racing at night always presents different challenges, with changes in temperature and lighting. With not much time between these races, we’ve been putting in the hours in the sim to ensure we are as prepared as possible to maximise on the improvements seen last time out.”
Zane Maloney, #22: “Although we narrowly missed out on points in Miami, it was a positive weekend for the team with good pace that shows we are moving in the right direction. Jeddah is a fast, technical circuit, which will test the team in different ways, particularly with the addition of the first Pit Boost of the season. However, we’ve been working hard in the short race gap and I’m confident we can be in the mix to score points this weekend.”
Mark Preston, Team Principal, Lola Yamaha ABT, said: “We saw positive steps forward with organisation and processes behind the scenes in Miami and this showed with good race pace which we are hoping to translate to points here in Jeddah.”
On Sunday 15th February, following the double-header, the second staging of the Evo Sessions will be held at the Jeddah Corniche Circuit. Motoring enthusiast and part of DriveTribe, Izzy Hammond, will be behind the wheel of the Lola T001 as part of TheBurntChip’s Senor Frogs team. The event will be streamed live on Formula E’s YouTube channel.
