Fresh from its first ABB Formula E podium, at the Miami E-Prix, the Lola Yamaha ABT team is aiming for another strong performance at this weekend’s double-header in Monaco.

At the Miami Homestead circuit three weeks ago, the team scored its first points in the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship, when Lucas di Grassi finished second in only the team’s fifth race.

Lola first scored points in Monte Carlo at the 1962 Monaco Grand Prix, where John Surtees finished fourth in the Lola Mk4 Climax.

The team went on to score in multiple Monaco Grands Prix and was present through Formula Junior and the FIA International F3000 Championship – for which Lola was a chassis supplier.

The 18-turn, 3.3km circuit, with its steep hill from the Sainte-Dévote corner to Massanet, and numerous instantly recognisable sections such as Casino Square, the tunnel and La Piscine, is a unique test of driver skill, energy management and overtaking prowess.

Lucas di Grassi, #11
“Monaco is my home race and I’m very excited to be back racing here, in what will be my 20th year racing at the iconic Monaco Grand Prix Circuit. From Formula Three, to Formula 1 and now many years in Formula E, it’s been a great 20 years, and we’re now heading into this weekend with slightly higher expectations following the amazing result in Miami. The car is getting better with each race and we’re all pushing very hard to keep up the momentum.”

Zane Maloney, #22
“Monaco is my favourite track and one I know well from racing in Formula 2 - although of course it will be a very different experience in the GEN3 Evo. I’m looking forward to continuing to improve on the performance we showed in Miami and have been working hard alongside the team since then as I look to score my first points for Lola Yamaha ABT.”

Mark Preston, Motorsport Director, Lola Cars said
“Lola Cars has a rich history in Monaco, having scored points in multiple Grand Prix here, and we hope to further this success as we compete here for the first time in Formula E. After the unexpected podium in Miami, we are continuing to focus on our performance and further unlock the potential of the package we have thanks to the continued hard work of everyone across the three partners in our team.”

Thomas Biermaier, CEO, ABT
“Everyone has been working extremely hard in the lead up to Monaco, spurred on by the great success in Miami. We are looking forward to building on what we have achieved and further progressing as a team.”

Heading into the race in Monaco, the Lola Yamaha ABT team is ninth in the Teams’ standings with 18 points.
