Lola Yamaha ABT is returning to the Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez this weekend, for the second round of Season 12 of the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship.

The team has been working hard to build on its performance from São Paulo where, despite technical issues and a challenging weekend, it left Brazil with its first point of the season and now heads into the Mexico E-Prix with a much more competitive package than this time last year.

Over a total length of 2.608km and 16 turns, the track features a mix of long, fast straights and a technical infield section through the legendary Foro Sol stadium, where the ATTACK MODE zone will be once again. The track is one of the fastest on the calendar and also the highest at 2,240m above sea level, presenting additional challenges for the teams and drivers.

This weekend’s E-Prix is not only the tenth staging of the event in Mexico City but also the 150th race for both the Formula E championship and LYA’s own Lucas di Grassi, the only driver to have entered every round of the series to date and one of only two drivers (the other being Pascal Wehrlein) to have won in Mexico more than once.

Lucas di Grassi, #11: “It’s great to be back for my tenth Mexico City E-Prix, where I’ve had a lot of success in the past. The atmosphere created by the fans is truly incredible and I hope it can be a great boost for myself and the team following a challenging race weekend in São Paulo.

“This weekend also marks my 150th race entry in Formula E which is a very special milestone for both myself and the series. I’m so proud to have been a part of this revolutionary electric racing series from the very beginning, especially when you look at how far the Championship, and the technology within it, has come during this time.”

Zane Maloney, #22: “Mexico City always has a fantastic atmosphere, particularly when you drive through the Foro Sol. We performed well in qualifying here last year, starting in ninth, and we know we have better pace going into this season so we can hopefully translate that into positive results in the race. Having scored my first point for Lola Yamaha ABT in São Paulo, I’m keen to keep building on that momentum and hopefully add more points to our tally.”

Mark Preston, Team Principal, Lola Yamaha ABT, said: “Racing in Mexico City is always a great way to kick off the year and with this being the 150th race of the series it’s sure to feel even more special, particularly for me on a personal level, having been involved in the first ever race back in 2014.

“The Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez is a challenging and fast track but the team has put in a lot of work since São Paulo so we can hopefully iron out the issues we had there, build on the positives and maximise our performance.”

The second round of Season 12 of the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship takes place on Saturday 10th January with qualifying at 09:40 local time (15:40 UTC) and the race at 14:05 local time (20:05 UTC). Find out where to watch the action where you are here.
