After a short break, the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship returns to Berlin this weekend, to the highly abrasive track at Tempelhof Airport.

The German capital has featured on the calendar of every Formula E season, with all except the race in season 2 being held at the historic airport. The latest iteration of the track features 15 turns and a long straight over 2.374km. Made up of repeating concrete slabs, the surface results in the teams having a lot to consider in terms of energy management and tyre wear.

Last time out in Madrid, the team showed positive pace with Zane narrowly missing out on the duels, while a well-executed race strategy saw Lucas finish just outside the points in the race.

Lucas di Grassi, #11: “After adapting and executing our strategy so well in Madrid, I’m hoping to build on this in Berlin and finish in the points. Having been on the podium six times here, it’s a circuit I know how to get the most out of and will be aiming to do just that this weekend.”

Zane Maloney, #22: “I was really pleased with the progress we showed in Madrid, with strong pace and qualifying 10th. As we were unable to build on this during the race due to the penalty we received for energy overuse, I’m hoping we can maximise this development here in Berlin.”

Mark Preston, Team Principal, Lola Yamaha ABT, said: “Madrid was a very mixed race for the team but seeing the improvements in pace and Lucas briefly leading the race for Lola was a real positive for us. The abrasive track conditions here in Berlin can lead to unpredictability which we hope can work in our favour as we look to turn pace into points in the German capital.”

Round 7 and 8 of Season 12 of the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship take place on Saturday 2nd and Sunday 3rd May, with qualifying at 11:40 CEST and the race at 16:05 CEST each day. Find out where to watch the action where you are here.
