Spanish driver, Marta García, will make her return to Formula E with Lola Yamaha ABT in the women’s test, as part of the series’ pre-season test in Valencia.
After a successful early career in karting, Marta progressed through single-seater racing, competing in the Spanish F4 Championship in 2016 before joining the Renault Sport Academy in 2017. She went on to make history by becoming the inaugural F1 Academy Champion in 2023 with Prema Racing, securing the title with two races to spare. Marta has previously completed two tests in Formula E – the 2024 rookie test in Berlin and last season’s women’s test in Madrid.
She is currently competing in the 2025 Le Mans Cup with Iron Dames in GT3, where she has claimed one victory and two podiums.
Marta commented:
It’s great to have the chance to test again in Formula E. I’m really looking forward to working with everyone at Lola Yamaha ABT and understanding their approach. They have a lot of experience and technical depth, so it’s a great opportunity for me to learn from them, adapt quickly and contribute to the team’s development. Every kilometre in these cars is valuable experience, and I’m excited to make the most of this opportunity.
Mark Preston, Motorsport Director at Lola Cars, said:
We are delighted to welcome Marta to the team. Her talent, versatility and experience speak for themselves and will be invaluable as we continue to develop our package ahead of the first race in December. The session provides an excellent platform for women in motorsport, and we’re excited to see what she can achieve with the team in Valencia.
Frederic Espinos, Team Director, Lola Yamaha ABT, continued:
Marta is one of the most talented female drivers today, who has proven her ability in numerous racing series, so we’re very excited to have her with us. The women’s test is a great opportunity for Marta to gain experience in electric racing, while also providing feedback to help the team prepare for the upcoming season.
Following its debut last year, the dedicated Women’s Test returns with double the track time available for up to 20 female drivers across all 10 Formula E teams as part of the Official Pre-Season Test. The full-day session underscores Formula E and the FIA’s commitment to accelerating equality in motorsport. Following testing in Valencia, the first round of Season 12 of the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship will take place in São Paulo, Brazil on 6th December 2025.
