Lola Yamaha ABT will once again be taking to the storied streets of Monaco this weekend as the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship returns to the Côte d'Azur.

A staple on the calendar since the inception of the series, the Circuit de Monaco is steeped in motorsport tradition. The 3.3km track features 19 turns, a steep hill and high-speed sections which put energy management to the test. The fast, narrow cars enable a multitude of overtaking opportunities for the drivers, even on the narrow streets of Monte Carlo.

At the most recent rounds in Berlin, Lola Yamaha ABT showed strong qualifying pace, with Zane Maloney making the duels on both Saturday and Sunday. It was also the first time we saw the two Lola T001s running P1 and P2 in Formula E. Despite these positives, the team came away from the German capital without any points and has been working over the past two weeks to convert these developments in pace to results in the race.

Lucas di Grassi, #11: “It was disappointing to come away from Berlin with no points after showing so much development in terms of pace and strategy execution, however the whole team has been working extremely hard over the past couple of weeks to help us make the next step and score points in the race. Racing in Monaco is always very special for me as it’s the place I’ve called home for more than 15 years. It’s a track I know well and have competed on many times over the years, so I’m confident we can pull everything together here to secure a strong result for the team.”

Zane Maloney, #22: “There are a lot of positives to take from Berlin. Making the duels in both rounds, achieving my best qualifying results in Formula E and leading a race for the first time was a great milestone. Although we see a lot of overtakes in Formula E in Monaco, starting position is more important for this tight street circuit than in Berlin so I’m hoping we can emulate our qualifying performance here, while building on what we’ve learnt to also finish in the top 10 in the race.”

Mark Preston, Team Principal, Lola Yamaha ABT, said: “Berlin was an encouraging step forward for us as a team. We’ve now shown consistently that we can be competitive in qualifying and even lead races, the next step is to convert this into points. We’ve spent time analysing the areas where we lost ground and are confident we can apply those lessons here in Monaco.”

Round 9 and 10 of Season 12 of the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship take place on Saturday 16th and Sunday 17th May, with qualifying at 10:40 CEST and the race at 15:05 CEST each day. Find out where to watch the action where you are here.
